Regular Part-time Recycling Center Worker – Tri-County Recycling Center

Murray County is taking applications for a Part-time Recycling Center Worker. Days worked will be Monday – Friday (28 hours per week).

Application packets may be obtained at the Murray County Coordinator’s Office, located in the Courts Building. Position open until filled, first review of applications will be April 26, 2017.

Duties include:

  • Sorting commingled recyclable material into homogenous bulk shipments.
  • Operate conveyor and baler shipment of plastic and paper products.
  • Run conveyor and glass crusher to reduce shipping space for different colored glass.
  • Maneuver forklifts to unload trailers, move recyclable materials within the building and load trucks.
  • Carry out regular preventive maintenance on equipment, which includes minor mechanical repairs on the equipment and building, and ensure an adequate inventory of supplies is maintained.
  • Record weights from a platform scale; communicate with visitors on how to recycle, and complete necessary janitorial services to keep the center clean and orderly.

Qualifications: H.S. Diploma/GED and a valid driver’s license are required. Ability to obtain a forklift certificate within three months.

Salary: $13.64 – $17.06 per hour

 Environmental Technician

Murray County is taking applications for full-time Environmental Technician.  Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Coordinate and plan the day-to-day operations and activities of water resources aspects of Murray County under the supervision of the Zoning/Environmental Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications: Education:  B.S. in an environmental field; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.  Ability to obtain, within two years of employment, and maintain a SSTS Inspector and Designer license. Complete training for Jurisdiction Delineation of Wetlands in Minnesota within two years of hire.  Valid Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules and regulations; budget principles, soil science, hydrology and drafting. Skilled in using a computer and related software applications. Ability to write correspondence; respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; present information in one-on-one and small group situations; work with mathematical concepts.

Salary Range: $20.54 -$25.67 per hour

Seasonal Sign Maintenance Technician – Highway Department

Murray County is accepting applications for a seasonal Sign Technician. Weekly work hours will vary with an average week of up to 40 hours per week, starting approximately May with completion on or near September.

  • Help load signs and posts into sign truck.
  • Operate sign truck and post pounder.

Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker – Parks Department

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers. Weekly work hours will vary with an average week of up to 35 hours per week, starting approximately May with completion on or near September.

  • Participates in cleaning and maintaining park areas and buildings.
  • Performs unskilled duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of park equipment and structure.
  • Mows and trims grass, weeds, and trees.
  • Cleans all shelters, toilets, trash containers, picnic tables, and grills.
  • Assists in cleaning and maintenance at the fairgrounds and set up for events.

Qualifications: Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Requires knowledge of general maintenance and a valid driver’s license. Related experience or training is preferred.

Museum Assistant – End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum – Historic Museum & Dinehart/Holt House

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Museum Assistants. Weekly work hours will vary with an average of up to 40 hours per week. Work on weekends and holidays will be required.

  • Conduct educational guided tours to the visitors about End-O-Line Park and Murray Counties history.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the park buildings, grounds, and displays on a daily basis.
  • Accurate record keeping and providing first rate customer service within the Visitors Center.

Qualifications: Requires the ability to learn and relay history and information on tourist attractions in the area. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to speak publicly to all age groups. Basic mathematical skills necessary. Must be able to work on weekends and holidays as required. Valid driver’s license required.
