Slayton Area Community Summer Band Concert Dates/Light Meal Fundraising Schedule

Slayton Area Community Band Concert June 24th
The Slayton Area Community Band welcomes you to Gullord Park on Thursday, June 24th at 7:00 PM for our third concert of the season.  We will be starting our set with songs from Roger and Hammerstein’s musicals “The Sound of Music” and “The King and I”.  Our children’s march around the park will be to the “Valley Forge March”.  This concert will also include “Amazing Grace”, “Summertime” (by George Gershwin), “Praise to the Lord”, and “The Best of Queen” for the grand finale!  All ages are welcome to attend.  We hope you can join us for some music and fun!  

Murray Lodge #199 will be sponsoring a Burger Feed at 5 PM.  Full meal deal is $8 which includes a burger, chips, cookies and water/pop; $4 for just a Burger.  The lodge is using this fundraiser for providing scholarships to the MCC & Fulda High Schools for 2021-2022 year.

Bring your lawn chair and come to Gullord Park for an evening meal, enjoy a musical concert, and support a local cause.  What could be a better “Get Together!”

The Slayton Area Community Band will be participating in the Fulda Wood Duck Festival Parade on Saturday, June 26th.



Slayton Area Community Band Concert June 17th
The Slayton Community Band welcomes you to Gullord Park on Thursday, June 17th at 7:00 PM for our second concert of the season.  We will be doing a wide variety of music.  We will be featuring our clarinet section in the piece entitled “Shenandoah” and our Trumpets and Clarinets with Disney’s “A Whole New World”.  The children’s march around the park will be “The Washington Post March”.  This concert will also include some Beach Boys and Glenn Miller tunes!  We hope you join us for some music and fun!

The Kim Holm Agency Relay for Life team will be sponsoring a Pulled Pork Sandwich Meal, chips, cookie and water from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in Gullord Park before the Community Band Concert.  $8.00 for a meal and $5.00 for a sandwich only. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society!

Great Slayton Area Get Together

The Slayton Community Band welcomes you to our first concert at Gullard Park this season on June 10th at 7 PM.   We will be doing a wide variety of music.  We will be featuring our flute section in the piece entitled “Colonel Bogey March” and our Trombones with “Lassus Trombone”.  New this year will be a children’s march around the park.  We hope you join us for some music and fun!

MinnWest Bank will be offering Walking Tacos, bars, and a drink at a cost of $6.00.

Mark your calendars with our upcoming Concert dates: June 17th, 24th, and July 1st, 8th, and 15th.

5-19-2021  Slayton Area Community Band:
Hey all you past, current, and “wanna be” Community Band Members: Community Band rehearsals for the 2021 Summer season are Tuesdays at 6:30 PM in the Band shell at Gullord Park.  If you would like to join but need help in obtaining a musical instrument, contact Mike Helgeson via email:  mike_helgeson@mcc.mntm.org  We do have a tenor saxophone available.  Anyone interested in being part of this awesome group is welcome!


5-4-2021 Slayton Area Community Band:
Time to dig out those instruments, break in new reeds, and grease those slides!  (And start getting the chops in shape!)  Community Band rehearsals for the 2021 Summer season will start on Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30 PM in the band shell at Gullord Park.  Anyone interested in being part of this awesome group is welcome!

Community Band Concerts in Gullord Park will begin Thursday, June 10th.  More information on the concerts and the fundraiser meals will be printed in upcoming copies of this newspaper (or announced on this radio station!).
