Slayton Library Teen Book Club
Teen book club meets the 2nd Thursday of the month, October – April, from 3:45-4:45. (We realize teens can’t come to every class, so feel free to come when it works for you.) You will need to commit to bringing your library card, reading and discussing the books.
Our first book will be Five Feet Apart. Please bring a list of books, you are interested in reading, to the first meeting so we can figure out what we will read for the next few months.

Friends of Lake Shetek State Park to host the 14th Annual Fall Pumpkin Festival
Join us for a day of fall fun at the 14th Annual Fall Pumpkin Festival at Lake Shetek State Park’s Zuya Group Center on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 1 – 3:30 p.m. Come on out and jump in the biggest leaf pile you’ve ever seen! There will be face painting, pumpkin decorating, activities and prizes to be had, along with s’mores by the campfire and refreshments. Don’t forget to take your fall family picture at the park.
The Fall Pumpkin Festival is sponsored by the Friends of Lake Shetek State Park and the Currie Town and Country Boosters. It is free to the public; however, state park vehicle permits are required to enter the park. Daily permits are $7 per vehicle or $35 for an annual permit and can be purchased at the office.
Lake Shetek State Park is located 14 miles northeast of Slayton or 13 miles south of Tracy. Access to the park is by County Road 38, north of Currie. For more information or to volunteer at the event, contact the park directly at (507) 763-3256 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
Baby, Oh Baby!
Oh baby is right! The birth of any baby is a time filled with so much joy, love, exhaustion, worry—and questions! Dr Mishra, Southwest Minnesota’s pediatric pioneer, will provide helpful information on newborn hot topics and answer any questions new moms, dads or caregivers have. These little bundles don’t come with a manual so any question is a good question! Please come hungry – a complimentary dinner will be provided!
