Friends of Slayton Library Meeting

The next Friends of Slayton Library meeting will be on Tuesday, February 11th, at noon.  
  • Bring your sack lunch and we will provide beverages. 
  • The meeting will last one hour.
  • Planning for Silent Auction to be held in April and the Spring Tea to be held in May.

Slayton Library Teen Book Club

Teen Book Club at the Public Library
6th – 8th Graders

The Library’s Teen Book Club will meet the second Thursday of every month (October thru April) from 3:45 – 4:45 in the teen area of the Slayton Public Library. The book being discussed on February 13th will be The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin.

 We understand that you are busy and won’t be able to attend every time, so come when it works for you.  (Call to find out what book we’re reading if you plan to attend upcoming meetings.)

 You will need a library card in order to participate.  You must be willing to read and discuss the books.

Slayton Kiwanis Meeting

Kiwanis is a global service organization with a primary focus towards children. Some of the activities supported by the local club include Cub Scouts, After Prom Party, MCC Scholarships, Camp Love’s Embrace, Wonder World, Punt-Pass & Kick, Jr. Achievement, Imagination Library, Head Start, MC Christmas Project, Children’s Miracle Network, ECFE, ECI, Hearts & Hands of Murray County, Youth Soccer, Slayton Fireman & much more.

The name “Kiwanis” was coined from a Native American expression, “Nunc Kee-wanis,” which means, “We trade.” All our club members have a trade that they bring to the club. We are always looking for new ideas, trades, and members to our club.

If our service and mission interests you, please consider joining our club. We would love to have you!
