Parks Maintenance Worker

Murray County is accepting applications for a regular full-time Parks Maintenance Worker. Hours are typically 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Position open until filled, first review of applications will be June 17, 2019.

Duties include: The purpose of this position is to assist the Parks/Fairgrounds/Aeration Director and to be engaged in development, maintenance, protection, and utilization of county parks, fairgrounds and aeration systems. This position may also assist other departments with special projects and daily activities.

Qualifications: High School diploma/GED and six months related work experience in parks and building maintenance. Valid MN Driver’s License required. Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of carpentry and construction practice, small engine repair and maintenance, aeration, parks and building maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required; •
  • Knowledge of fabricating with metal (welding and cutting);
  • Knowledge of plumbing, operating department tools and equipment;
  • Must obtain and be able to maintain: Aeration installation and inspection certification, Chainsaw operations, MSHA safety training, fire extinguisher training, CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne pathogens;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, while able to perform intermediate troubleshooting or analysis of problems;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals;
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Salary: $16.20 – $21.06 per hour


Emergency Management Services/Safety Director

Murray County is accepting applications for a regular full-time Emergency Management Services/Safety Director. Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Position open until filled, first review of applications will be May 29, 2019.

The Emergency Management Services/Safety Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, promoting and evaluating programs to ensure emergency preparedness in Murray County. The Emergency Management Director provides coordinating direction to others responding to declared emergencies through recovery. Maintains the coordination of countywide safety program.

Duties Include:

  • Supervise and direct County Emergency Management Program
  • Coordination of Countywide Safety

Minimum Qualifications:  Associate degree from an accredited university, community college, trade or technical college, with a minimum of two years of experience in emergency management, emergency preparedness, planning, business or public administration; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Valid MN Driver’s License.  

Requirements: Ability to obtain within three years and maintain a Minnesota HSEM Certification; ability to respond to the Emergency Operations Center within 30 minutes of notification in the event of an emergency; knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary: $24.36 – $31.66 per hour
