This position is responsible for administering the County’s mission and programs including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, budgeting, coordinating, and directing. The Administrator serves as the agent of the Board and carries the primary responsibility for employee relations.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Personnel Management, or related field, and at least five years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for the position.

Emergency Management Services/Safety Director

Murray County is accepting applications for a regular full-time Emergency Management Services/Safety Director. Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Position open until filled, first review of applications will be May 29, 2019.

The Emergency Management Services/Safety Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, promoting and evaluating programs to ensure emergency preparedness in Murray County. The Emergency Management Director provides coordinating direction to others responding to declared emergencies through recovery. Maintains the coordination of countywide safety program.

Duties Include:

  • Supervise and direct County Emergency Management Program
  • Coordination of Countywide Safety

Minimum Qualifications:  Associate degree from an accredited university, community college, trade or technical college, with a minimum of two years of experience in emergency management, emergency preparedness, planning, business or public administration; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Valid MN Driver’s License.  

Requirements: Ability to obtain within three years and maintain a Minnesota HSEM Certification; ability to respond to the Emergency Operations Center within 30 minutes of notification in the event of an emergency; knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary: $24.36 – $31.66 per hour


Museum Assistant
End-O-Line Railroad Park  – Historic Museum & Dinehart/Holt House

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Museum Assistants. Weekly work hours will vary with an average of up to 35 hours per week. Work on weekends and holidays will be required.

Duties include:

  • Conduct educational guided tours to the visitors about End-O-Line Park and Murray Counties history.
  • Assist with events at the museums.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the park buildings, grounds, restrooms.
  • Assist with gift shop inventory, use of cash register and credit card machine.

Qualifications: Requires the ability to learn and relay history information on tourist attractions in the area. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to speak publicly to all age groups. Basic mathematical skills necessary. Must be able to work on weekends and holidays as required. Valid MN driver’s license required.

Salary: $10.35 – $13.46 per hour


Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker
Parks Department

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers. Weekly work hours will vary with an average week of up to 40 hours per week, starting approximately May with completion on or near September.

Duties include:

  • Grounds Maintenance including mowing, trimming grass, trees and performing yard work.
  • Assist in events, cleaning and maintaining Fairgrounds.
  • Performs general maintenance on small equipment including mowers and weed eaters.
  • Inspects and cleans all shelters, toilets, trash containers, picnic tables, grills and other equipment and structures in the County park system.

Qualifications: Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Requires knowledge of general maintenance and a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Related experience or training is preferred.

Salary: $10.35 – $13.46 per hour


Seasonal Surveying Technician
Highway Department

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Surveying Technician. Hours are Monday thru Friday and will vary with an average week of up to 40 hours.

Duties include:

  • Assist with construction surveys using equipment such as level, transit, total station, data collector or GPS.
  • Assist with preliminary construction surveys for future projects.
  • Assist with inspection of construction projects.
  • Assists with materials on aggregate samples, paperwork and filing construction documents.
  • Placing stakes and collecting weigh tickets

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED, preference will be given to those that are or will be attending post-secondary education in Engineering/Surveying. Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for this position. Valid Minnesota Driver’s license.

Salary: $10.98 – $14.27 per hour



Weed Sprayer 1
Highway Department

Murray County is taking applications for temporary Weed Sprayers. Hours are Monday thru Friday and will vary by weather conditions.

Duties include:

  • Schedule spraying duties
  • Mix spray for weed control
  • Perform spraying
  • Document spraying duties

Qualifications: Candidate must have a valid driver’s license. High School diploma/ (GED). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Perform basic mathematical computations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to work independently and under varying weather conditions.

Salary: $15.61 per hour


Weed Sprayer 2
Highway Department

Murray County is taking applications for a seasonal Weed Sprayer II. Hours are Monday thru Friday and will vary by weather conditions.

Qualifications: Candidate must have a valid driver’s license. High school diploma/GED, Class A driver’s license and tanker endorsement. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Perform basic mathematical computations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to work independently and under varying weather conditions.

Salary: $20.00 per hour
