Part Time License Center Clerk

Murray County is taking applications for a part-time License Center Clerk, 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  To obtain an application and a detailed job description, contact Murray County Coordinator’s Office at 507-836-1149.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Process transactions related driver’s licenses, motor vehicle titles and plates, game and fish licenses, boat, snowmobile, and ATV registrations, and any other applicable items related to the License Center.
  • Work in various computer programs for processing transactions, preparing reports, and looking up information. Balance funds received and prepare bank deposits.
  • Maintain necessary inventory of manuals, informational materials, and other supplies. Maintaining knowledge in regulations related to the License Center.

Qualifications: Minimum of a H.S. Diploma/GED and one-year prior office experience. Valid MN Driver’s License. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and the ability to learn web based DVS program as well as MN DNR computer programs.

Deputy Sheriff

Murray County is taking applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff. Hours are a combination of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The purpose of this position is to protect life and property in Murray County and to enforce City Ordinances, County, State and Federal Laws. Duties include but are not limited to investigating criminal activity; interviewing victims, interrogating suspects; writing reports; responding to accidents; civil process; prisoner transport; evidence collection; serving warrants; executing of court orders; responding to law enforcement related calls and assist the County Sheriff.

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and two-year degree in law enforcement or related field.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed by the Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training Board and attend at least 48 hours continuing education every three years;
  • Valid MN Driver’s License;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to use leadership skills, to verbalize orders/commands so that the public and staff understand exactly what is being said and expected;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals;
  • Must have received Bureau of Criminal Apprehension CJIS certification within one year of date of hire.

DISPATCHER/JAILER

Murray County is taking applications for a part-time Dispatcher/Jailer. Variety of rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

This purpose of this position is to answer 911 calls and dispatch responding units (Law, Fire, EMS and First Responders) with accurate and timely information via the paging system and ARMER radio. This position exercises independent judgement in transmitting law enforcement information and responding to inquiries, complaints, and requests for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. This position assumes responsibility of prisoners brought into Murray County holding cell and records all actions taken by prisoner and arresting order.

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and a valid MN Driver’s License.

Desired Qualifications: One year of experience in 911 Center and bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish.

Requirements: Ability to analyze emergency calls and respond to the call calmly, quickly and accurately; Ability to use a dispatch radio to communicate effectively presenting information clearly and accurately; Ability to read, write and speak English and ability to listen to and follow instructions; Ability to ask specific questions to get results; Must be able to make decisions quickly and meet deadlines.
