Assessor Technician

Murray County is taking applications for full-time Assessor Technician. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Position open until filled, first review of applications will be May 2, 2018.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Assist in physically inspecting and measuring residential, agricultural, industrial, seasonal, and commercial properties.
  • Maintaining field books by verifying calculations and updating information to ensure accuracy.
  • Respond to requests for information concerning property values, classifications, taxes, tax estimates, and CER information gathered from field books. Also, provide sales information from CRV’s.
  • Clerical functions such as mailings, creating reports, typing correspondence, and maintaining office inventory.
  • Computer maintenance, verification, and input on changes of ownership, values, status of property, CER, etc.
  • Maintains and updates the Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) System. Prepare a list of building permits for local assessors to use in locating new construction on farm and lakeshore lots.
  • Map out parcels of land and property splits by legal description with ArcView GIS to establish new CER values.

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and two years relevant work experience. Valid MN driver’s license. Must have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Effective communication and customer service skills. Mathematical skills and ability to read legal descriptions required. Ability to obtain the Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) licensure within two years of hire. Also, obtain the Accredited Minnesota Assessor Licensure within two years of the CMA certification.

Salary Range: $16.75 -$21.78 per hour

Environmental Services Secretary/License Center

Murray County is taking applications for a part-time Environmental Services Secretary/License Center, 28 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Application deadline is 4:00 p.m. on April 13, 2018.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Assist the public and provide them general information about the department and assist with any forms or applications that need completion.
  • Work in various computer programs for processing transactions, preparing reports, and looking up information. Balance funds received and prepare bank deposits.
  • Create and update GIS maps with regards to site locations of public hearings.
  • Process transactions related driver’s licenses, motor vehicle titles and plates, game and fish licenses, boat, snowmobile, and ATV registrations, and any other applicable items related to the License Center.

Qualifications: Minimum of a H.S. Diploma/GED and one-year related education and/or experience. Valid MN Driver’s License. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and the ability to learn web based DVS program as well as MN DNR computer programs.

Museum Assistant
End-O-Line Railroad Park and Historic Museum & Dinehart/Holt House

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Museum Assistants. Weekly work hours will vary with an average of up to 35 hours per week. Work on weekends and holidays will be required.

Duties include:

  • Conduct educational guided tours to the visitors about End-O-Line Park and Murray Counties history.
  • Assist with events at the museums.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the park buildings, grounds, restrooms.
  • Assist with gift shop inventory, use of cash register and credit card machine.

Qualifications: Requires the ability to learn and relay history information on tourist attractions in the area. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to speak publicly to all age groups. Basic mathematical skills necessary. Must be able to work on weekends and holidays as required. Valid MN driver’s license required.

Salary: $10.10 – $13.13 per hour

Seasonal Surveying Technician
Highway Department

Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Surveying Technician. Hours are Monday thru Friday and will vary with an average week of up to 40 hours.

Duties include:

  • Operate survey equipment such as level, transit, total station, data collector or GPS.
  • Assist with inspection of construction projects, placing construction stakes.
  • Assists with materials on aggregate samples, paperwork and filing construction documents.

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/ GED and prefer at least one year of post-secondary education in Engineering/Surveying; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for this position. Must be able to work independently and have a valid MN Driver’s License.

Salary: $10.71 – $13.92 per hour

Seasonal Recycling Center Worker
Tri-County Recycling Center

Murray County is taking applications for a seasonal Recycling Center Worker. May through August, days worked will be Monday – Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

Application packets may be obtained at the Murray County Coordinator’s Office, located in the Courts Building. Position open until filled, first review of applications will be April 13, 2018.

Duties include:

  • Sorting commingled recyclable material into homogenous bulk shipments.
  • Operate conveyor and baler shipment of plastic and paper products.
  • Run conveyor and glass crusher to reduce shipping space for different colored glass.
  • Carry out regular preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Record weights from a platform scale; communicate with visitors on how to recycle, and complete necessary janitorial services to keep the center clean and orderly.

Qualifications: H.S. Diploma/GED and a valid MN driver’s license are required.

Salary: $10.10 – $13.13 per hour
